Spanish Courses in Santiago de Chile
Located in the central part of Chile, the
capital city of Santiago is a wonderful place to visit and
stay. Spanish courses in Santiago provide the learner an
opportunity to immerse themselves in the language and culture
of the region, as well as see the incredible variations in the
Chilean countryside. The city of Santiago is within sight of
the magnificent Andes Mountains and is actually located on an
inland plain. The city itself is the fifth largest in South
America and is rapidly growing as the popularity of the city
and the country of Chile increases.
One of the amazing features of Spanish courses
in Santiago is the variety of climates and activities that you
can experience just a short drive away. It is possible to go
skiing in the Andes one day, and the next relax on a tropical
beach just a few hours drive away. The forests and parks around
Santiago are great for hiking, mountain biking, camping and
horseback riding. A trip to the vineyards of the Miapo Valley
provides wine tastings and fine restaurants and hotels in a
country setting, all within a short drive of Santiago.
Spanish courses in Santiago focus on the
activities and events in the culture. There are trips to the
various museums in the area, including the Museo Nacional de
Bellas Artes, where it is possible to take art courses from
local and national artists. The Pueblito de Los Dominicos is a
public market that offers souvenirs and local artwork, all in
an informal setting. During holidays, traditional Chilean
dancers and entertainers are present to add to the festivities.
The Parque Metropolitano provides wonderful outdoor cafes,
restaurants and shopping. The Parque includes many walking
trails that are mapped, a zoo, and several picnic areas for a
relaxing break in a shady spot.
Spanish courses in Santiago wouldn’t be
complete without a trip to the top of Cerro San Cristobal. The
top can be reached by bus, funicular or simply a long trek. At
the top of the 830 meter hill, in the Barrio Bellavista
community, there is a historical church with a statue of the
Virgin Mary. The statue was donated to Chile by the French in
1920 and can be seen from virtually any part of Santiago. From
the top of Cerro San Cristobal it is possible to get a
wonderful view of the complete city and the mountains in the
background.
