and speak a new language is to actually go to a country that
speaks the language. Traveling to learn Spanish in Oaxaca is a
wonderful way to understand the culture and people of the area,
as well as becoming fluent in a second language. The area
around Oaxaca is beautiful and inviting for exploration and
relaxation. The sandy beaches, mangrove lagoons and shaded
restaurants and cafes along the beach make this city a perfect
place for a sun-filled holiday or vacation. Luxurious hotels
and resorts provide ultra-modern rooms and features in hotels

If you come to learn Spanish in Oaxaca, you'll
soon learn that the city is very traditional in its structure,
with the central area, the Zocalo Plaza, being the meeting spot
for many of the people in the area. Historical buildings such
as the Cathedral and the Palacio de Gobierno surround this
magnificent plaza. The Zocalo is filled with small shops,
restaurants and open air cafes. Huge trees that were imported
from India provide shelter from the sun and provide a place for
the hundreds of songbirds to gather. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and
holidays, the Government Band can be found in a bandstand on
the Zocalo playing favorite music from Mexico.
There is also a smaller plaza just off the
Zocalo that has a wide selection of imported and local arts and
crafts, foods and other items to purchase from local vendors.
This market area is a wonderful place to browse through to find
one of a kind items, as well as a terrific area to learn
Spanish in Oaxaca. The main street in Oaxaca is called the
Tourist Boulevard, Andador Turistico, and is closed to traffic.
The rest of the city is open to vehicle, taxi and bus traffic,
with traffic police keeping the traffic flowing. There are
hundreds of shops, restaurants, hotels and museums along this
major pedestrian area. The Contemporary Art Museum, the State
Regional Museum, as well as the historic Santo Domingo Temple
are all within easy walking distance.
After a busy day sightseeing - or trying to
learn Spanish in Oaxaca - it is relaxing to take a stroll along
the beach, or just sit at one of the many international
restaurants, enjoying a wonderful meal and watching the sunset.
There are many different options for evening entertainment
including clubs, bars, theatres and dancing. Oaxaca is an
